El Beridj – Tadrart Rouge – Essendilène

This 11-day journey offers an in-depth exploration of the spectacular Tadrart Rouge and El Beridj regions in the Tassili n'Ajjer. Beyond the iconic landscapes of In Djaren and Tin Merzouga, the route leads into the remarkable mineral world of El Beridj, a remote and largely untouched area shaped by dunes, canyons, sandstone formations and hidden gueltas.

After exploring the heart of the Tadrart Rouge, the journey continues toward Djanet, Tikoubaouine, Essendilène and Tegharghart, combining spectacular desert landscapes with ancient rock art and the cultural heritage of the Algerian Sahara.

Day 1 – Arrival in Djanet

Arrival at Djanet Airport during the night, where our team welcomes you and transfers you directly to the hotel. Rest and spend the night at the hotel, with breakfast the following morning before beginning the desert journey.

Day 2 – Tin Tersotin and Alidemma

After breakfast at the hotel, we visit the local market, where you can purchase a traditional Tuareg cheche before leaving Djanet. We then travel by 4×4 towards Tin Tersotin, where we have lunch before continuing towards Alidemma.

In the evening, we enjoy dinner at Alidemma, where we set up our bivouac and spend the night under the Sahara sky.

Day 3 – Alidemma, Merkawandi and El Beridj

After breakfast, we leave Alidemma and continue towards Merkawandi, where we stop for lunch. In the afternoon, we begin discovering the prehistoric rock art of the region, with several sites along our route. We continue through the spectacular landscapes of the Tassili n'Ajjer, discovering ancient engravings and paintings along the way.

By the end of the day, we reach El Beridj, where we set up our bivouac, enjoy dinner and spend the night surrounded by the remarkable desert landscapes of the region.

Day 4 – Entering Tadrart Rouge via Erg Moul N’Aga

After spending the morning exploring El Beridj, we leave the region in the afternoon and enter the spectacular Tadrart Rouge through Erg Moul N’Aga. The landscape changes dramatically as we encounter vast golden dunes, towering sandstone formations and breathtaking desert scenery.

We arrive at Moul N’Aga, where we enjoy a spectacular Sahara sunset over the golden dunes and surrounding rock formations. We then set up our bivouac, have dinner and spend the night beneath the stars.

Day 8 – Essendilène and Tikoubaouine

After breakfast, we head directly towards Essendilène. We spend the morning exploring the spectacular Essendilène Canyon and its natural guelta, surrounded by lush vegetation, sandstone cliffs and peaceful desert landscapes. Along the way, we have the opportunity to meet local Tuareg communities and nomadic families living in the region.

We enjoy lunch in Essendilène before continuing towards Tikoubaouine. In the afternoon, we discover the remarkable landscapes and sandstone formations of Tikoubaouine, including its guelta and a distinctive rock formation in the area.

Before setting up our bivouac, we take time to enjoy the surrounding scenery. We then have dinner and spend the night in Tikoubaouine.

Day 9 – Tikoubaouine to Adayeg

After breakfast, we leave Tikoubaouine and continue through the remarkable desert landscapes of the Tassili n'Ajjer. We travel through Tilalin, Agzel, and In Mouroudan, discovering dramatic sandstone formations and remote desert scenery along the route.

We then continue towards Adayeg, where we enjoy dinner, set up our bivouac and spend the night in the heart of the Sahara.

Day 5 – Moul N’Aga, In Djaren and Tin Merzouga

We wake up in Moul N’Aga and continue our journey through the spectacular landscapes of Tadrart Rouge. We travel through In Djaren, discovering dramatic sandstone formations, vast dunes and prehistoric rock paintings and engravings along the route.

We stop for lunch at Tin Tiflghagh, then continue through Oued Ouan Zaouaten and In Tehak before reaching Tin Merzouga. In the evening, we enjoy dinner, set up our bivouac and spend the night surrounded by the magnificent red dunes of Tin Merzouga.

Day 6 – Ouan n’Aguen, Bouhadyan and Tissetteka

We wake up in Tin Merzouga and continue towards Ouan n’Aguen, a remarkable area known for its prehistoric rock paintings and engravings and its impressive network of canyons. We spend the morning exploring the rock art and discovering several of these spectacular desert canyons.

After lunch, we continue our journey towards Bouhadyan. We then head back towards the El Beridj area before continuing through Ouanhar and Tissetteka, following the route towards the exit of the Tadrart Rouge.

We spend the night outside the Tadrart Rouge, camping at Agalati or Tissetteka, depending on weather and local conditions.

Day 10 – Tegharghart and Return to Djanet

After breakfast, we leave Adayeg and head towards Tegharghart, home to the famous Crying Cow rock engraving. We spend the morning exploring the site and discovering its remarkable prehistoric rock art and surrounding desert landscapes.

We have lunch at Tegharghart before midday, then continue to Djanet and check into the hotel. After settling in, the rest of the day is free to relax and enjoy some personal time in Djanet.

Day 11 – Discovering Djanet and Departure

Today is dedicated to discovering Djanet and its cultural heritage. We visit the historic Ksar El Mizane, explore the Archaeological Museum, and enjoy a walk through the city to discover its local atmosphere and traditional character.

We return to the hotel for lunch and have the afternoon free to relax or continue exploring Djanet at our own pace. In the evening, we enjoy dinner at the hotel before our team transfers you to Djanet Airport according to your flight schedule for your return journey.

Day 7 – Leaving Tadrart Rouge, Djanet and Timras

We leave the Tadrart Rouge and make our way towards Djanet, passing through beautiful valleys and desert landscapes along the route. After reaching Djanet, we continue towards Timras, where we set up our bivouac, enjoy dinner and spend the night.
